Luskin OIC’s commitment to education extends to our international outreach.
Through the International Children Program (ICP), Luskin OIC held its first physical therapy conference “Cerebral Palsy: Evidence to Practice” on August 26, in Mexicali (MX).
Directed at physical therapy professionals, the objective was to present evidence-based therapies with the aim of improving outcomes in cerebral palsy patients, especially post-surgically.
One of our patient ambassadors/ICP patients, Kitzia Quevedo, was gracious enough to take part in demonstrations for the certain concepts/practices presented. She has been been in our care since 2018, has recovered amazingly since, and is always there to give positive vibes, loves singing/dancing, and is always willing to help.
Christine Caron, Luskin OIC Director of Rehabilitation, led the conference which was enthusiastically attended by 16 physical therapy providers from Tijuana and Mexicali. Therapists from rehabilitation institutions IEFBC, Tres bien, and instructors from UNUS University actively participated in these sessions.
We were also able to be joined by one of our ICP patients who was gracious enough to assist with the demonstration of the concepts and practices presented.
Claudia Ortiz, ICP manager and organizer of the conference sincerely thanks IEFBC for providing the space to hold the conference, the tireless work of our volunteers from Mexicali, and Christine Caron for dedicating her time and effort to make this day possible. The enthusiasm and appreciation shown by the attendees motivates us to continue expanding our international education programs to bring lasting improvements in health to our global community.
We’re glad to say the attendees were very receptive and happy with our approach, showing them our discoveries and learning from their own. (*attendees as the PT’s that reside in Caleixco).
